Sofia Karina Trommlerová
M.A. Sofia Karina Trommlerová, PhD.

Sofia Karina Trommlerová is an economist and a researcher in social sciences. She received her PhD in development economics from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID) in Geneva, Switzerland, in 2016. During her PhD studies, she was an MSCA researcher at Bocconi University in Milan, Italy. Post-PhD, she was a postdoctoral researcher in a Gates Foundation-financed project at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS), Erasmus University Rotterdam in the Netherlands, and a postdoctoral researcher in an ERC-funded grant at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Spain. In 2022, she moved to her home country Slovakia where she has worked at the Comenius University Bratislava, first as an MSCA Postdoctoral Fellow and currently as an Associate Professor at the Institute of Public Policy. She uses microeconometric methods to examine topics related to family, fertility, child health, and gender. Her main research interests include family economics, population economics, development economics, and economic demography.
