Study

The study programs (Applied Economics – undergraduate, graduate level; Economics – doctoral level) are offered in a Slovak/English hybrid version in order to fully integrate international doctoral students and faculty staff at the Institute into the educational process. All information are available at the faculty website – undergraduate, graduate, doctoral.

Over the last five years, the Institute has maintained a stable number of  students enrolled at all three levels of education (see Table 1), while still managing to retain its prominently selective nature combined with a more personal approach. The increasing trend in the number of doctoral students signals a positive outlook for the sustainability of the new doctoral program in field of ‘Economics’.

Student placement. Successful graduates are employed in highly-qualified jobs, such as analysts in ministerial analytical units (Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs and Family, Ministry of Finance), data analysts in central banks (National Bank of Slovakia) or in private institutions in the financial sector (insurance companies, commercial banks), expert analysts and traders in asset management firms, or further pursue academic career in doctoral studies. Graduate students actively participate in international student competitions (e.g., Econometric Game 2026) and receive prizes for their master theses as a recognition of high quality teaching and research process (e.g., second place in the diploma and dissertation thesis competition of the National Bank of Slovakia in 2026). As part of their practical-oriented education, bachelor and master students spend one semestral course assisting partners in the public and private sector (e.g., CRIF – Slovak Credit Bureau, the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic, the Slovak Academy of Sciences).
