Model ASEM 2018

Bratislava will host the first Model ASEM in Central Europe

The ASEM (Asia-Europe Meeting) is an intergovernmental platform, which was established in 1996 with the aim of supporting dialogue and cooperation between the countries of Europe and Asia. It currently has 51 members (this includes Slovakia), as well as the EU and the ASEAN (The Association of Southeast Nations). The ASEM supports dialogue in the political, economic, social, cultural and education fields, the meetings are held on multiple levels, from heads of the state and ministers to experts in individual fields.

The Model ASEM Bratislava Spin-off 2018 will bring together 53 young delegates, who will engage in a political simulation of the ASEM Foreign Ministers’ Meeting from 26 to 28 October 2018. The main goal of the Model is to provide an educational platform for young leaders from the ASEM Partner countries and thus to increase interest in the ASEM process and Europe-Asia cooperation.

In conjunction with the Model ASEM Bratislava Spin-off 2018 we are also preparing EURASI Forum 2018 - a one-day conference on Europe-Asia issues, which will take place in Bratislava on the 26th of October 2018. The EURASI Forum 2018 will provide a unique Central European platform to discuss Europe-Asia cooperation with special emphasis on the ASEM process, engaging panellists representating various areas such as diplomacy, academia, international organisations, NGOs and business.

This event is organized by the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences, Comenius University in Bratislava. The main partners are: the Asia-Europe Foundation and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic.
